Sleder's Family Tavern is delighted to be celebrating Super Bowl Sunday with a special Sunday afternoon concert 'on the porch' featuring longtime local favorite, Sandy Blumenfeld. on Sunday February 5th, 2017 at 3 p.m. and will be in celebration of the release of his first cd.
The 'On the Porch' Concert Series is a monthly showcase featuring performers singing their original work in a concert in a club atmosphere. It is a commitment to allow artists to perform their music in a concert setting and the series focuses on performers who write/sing/perform their own material. This performance by Sandy Blumenfeld is set for February 5th, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Sleder's Tavern.
Singer songwriter Sandy Blumenfeld has been involved with the local music scene for the past 40 years as a performer with roots and blues based bands, and as a solo artist. Currently Sandy works as an on air DJ at WNMC college radio, hosting 3 shows a week. Acting as local music director at the station, he is continually seeking out new talent, and having them perform live on his programs. The list is long and varied.
Sandy began performing in coffee houses during the 60's in Detroit and Flint, and continues to this day playing venues in northern Michigan. You can find him playing with "Blind Dog Hank" regularly, or sitting in with various artists, while backing them on his slide guitars. His songs are widely varied in subject and musical styles. Serious to silly stories, seasoned with slide licks and catchy melodies
Sleder's has been presenting talented singer/songwriters as far back as 1998 with a performance by Bill Staines. This CD release party and concert performance by Sandy Blumenfeld will be a showcase afternoon of his music 'on the porch' at Sleder's.
